Moyer’s Return To Pocono a Great 14th Place Run

Harrisburg, NC, July 25, 2023 – Stephanie Moyer’s Return to Pocono was truly an up and down affair. From Close Calls to Raw Speed, The #11 Team saw a bit of everything over the course of the Race weekend.

Partners make Return to Pocono Possible

After the Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, Stephanie had her eyes set on her next start of the season; Pocono Raceway. As with her record-breaking 2022 season, it was thanks to family, friends and a few new faces along the way.

“My Favorite Racetrack I’ve ever Raced at is Pocono…It’s a tricky Triangle but it’s a lot of fun once you get the hang of it” Said Stephanie in her ‘Meet The Driver Segment’ with Fast Track Racing.

With a great opportunity on the line, Local partners Harry’s U-Pull-It, Ackerman Sealcoating, Fairway Subaru & Damon’s Grill all signed on to support the Sheppton, PA Native at their home track. Her Long term Sponsors like Evergreen Raceway, American Legion Post 473 & Himmer Graphics all chipped in to aid in her Return to Pocono as well.

Kansas Wesleyan University came on board, following 18 months of supporting a local iRacing effort — Riggs Racing — in the world of esports. This was the last bit of funding needed to secure a competitive ride with Fast Track Racing.

Practice Makes Perfect & Rain Postpones the Race

Early in the week, weather appeared to be in the forecast for Friday Morning to Afternoon of the race. The pressure was on the Fast Track Crew to have the car as close as possible unloading to be ready for the race.

Led by 1999 Cup Series Champion Crew Chief, Todd Parrott, the #11 Crew made final preparations just in case Practice and Qualifying were not washed out. Thankfully, they were not.

Practicing on Old Tires, Stephanie shook down the car to get a feel for Race Pace. Stephanie Ran 18th in practice, outdoing some cars who had fresh tires (worth at least 3 seconds based on tire wear). With 5 laps under her belt and happy with the balance of the car, Todd made the last adjustments for Qualifying.

With a happy Driver, Crew Chief and Crew, Stephanie went out and outdid her previous track best and Qualified the car 17th place, with a lot more saved for the race.

“I’m Really happy with that! I know I left a lot on the table, but I want to save my stuff for the race.” Said Moyer.

With a long wait until the green flag, a storm system moved in and washed out the second half of the Raceday, ultimately pushing the race to an 8:30 AM start on Saturday.

Return to Pocono Part 2 – Race Day

When the Green Flag flew, the fans were in for a treat! With a Green Race Track and hungry field, the stage was set for an eventful Race.

Surviving the first stages of the race, a caution flew on lap 23. Todd Parrott made the call to change tires and put Steph on a fresh set of General Tires, sending her back out in 14th Place.

On the ensuing restart, Moyer worked her way to 11th place before disaster struck: The left rear tire blew out in the middle of turn 3, sending Stephanie into a spin. She saved the car and brought it to the attention of the pit crew for a set of used tires to make the end of the race.

With worn out tires, it now switched to a game of survival for the #11 Team. Losing a lap with the spin and Pit Stop, Moyer was now in position for the Lucky Dog if the Caution were to come out.

Moyer did not have to wait long, as shohrtly after the next restart, the #32 and #8 cars made contact coming off turn 3. This became the most harrowing part of the race.

Stephanie headed the words of her spotter “Low, Low, Low, Low, Low!” as the #8 Spun up and then down the track. She barely survived the incident as the #8 rolled back down the track. For her Efforts, Stephanie was later awarded the Reese’s Sweet Move of The Race.

As the Checkered Flag Flew, Stephanie’s Return to Pocono proved to be her best career ARCA Menards Series Finish, a 14th Place. Stephanie proved that she and her team could be a force next year, running just outside the Top 10 and at Times being faster than even the Top 5!
